Which district of Augsburg is best to stay in?
For sightseeing without a car: the city centre. For hospital visits: Kriegshaber (University Hospital) or Oberhausen (Josefinum). For the trade fair and university: the south around the Univiertel and Haunstetten. For peace and greenery: Hochzoll or Göggingen.
Where should I stay to see Augsburg's sights?
In the city centre. The Town Hall with its Golden Hall, Perlach Tower, the cathedral, Maximilianstraße and the Fuggerei – the oldest social housing complex in the world still in use – are close together and walkable.
Which district is near University Hospital Augsburg?
University Hospital Augsburg is in the west of the city, in Kriegshaber. Neighbouring Oberhausen is also close; Hotel Goldener Falke there quotes about 10 minutes by car to the hospital.
Where should I stay for the Augsburg trade fair?
The exhibition centre is in the south of the city, near the university. The Univiertel and Haunstetten offer short distances. By car the fair is also easy to reach from Oberhausen – about 15 minutes according to Hotel Goldener Falke.
Which districts are quiet and green?
Hochzoll, east of the Lech river, is close to the Kuhsee lake and the Lech meadows. Göggingen in the south-west is a quiet residential district with its historic Kurhaus. Both suit families and longer stays.
Where can work crews stay?
It depends on the job site. Monteurzimmer Augsburg rents rooms and whole apartments for crews at Stiermannstraße 5 (86154 Augsburg) and at other locations, including Grünerstraße (Oberhausen) and Schelklingerstraße (Kriegshaber), with free parking and quick access to the A8 and B17.
Do I need a car in Augsburg?
Not in the city centre – trams and buses connect the districts. For the trade fair, work sites or appointments in the surrounding area a car is useful; then a place with its own parking outside the old town makes sense.
